Small batches and simple components for aluminium brazing are accomplished with AlSi alloys in the form of finished pastes. Generally there are used torches or heating blowpipes as well as induction systems for the brazing. The necessary working time for the brazing is a little lower than for welding, and the necessary asset investments and the costs of the training of the personnel are lower in relation to the inert gas welding methods. Since aluminium and aluminium alloys on the surface carry a chemical, very sturdy alumina skin, sharp fluxing agents must be used on chloride and fluoride basis for the brazing.
Design out of thin-walled plates and tubes with overlapping connections are favourable brazing components. Since the brazing of aluminium has some advantages in relation to welding, particularly in certain cases of design, it is a well-used method besides welding.
