Typical applications of brazed aluminium heat exchangers in various industries
Dr.-Ing. Andreas Strehlow

Since the early 1960s AKG has developed brazed aluminium heat exchangers for various applications in different industries. One main application is the cooling of combustion engines in either mobile or stationary machines. This typically covers the cooling of coolant, several oil circuits and charge air. Especially in mobile equipment the growing demand for air conditioning let condensers become another part in today’s cooling systems.

Depending on the special requirements for each application the technical solutions can differ substantially. For automotive applications with large volumes tube-and-fin designs are typical. For lower volumes like in mobile working machines or high-end automotive applications more variable designs had to be developed. This is also true for condensers, which are rather inexpensive when they are produced in large quantities but not when they have to be customised to a low volume application.

One solution is to use a limited set of tubes dimensions for different condenser sizes. Especially for heavy duty applications AKG also provides condensers in plate-and-bar design, which can be mounted directly aside of other coolers without the necessity of a frame to hold the cooling module.

A new possibility is the use of MFTeX design.
